Solum
Every civilization begins with land.
Not with money.
Not with technology.
With territory.
Solum is the territorial foundation of Zipvilization.
It is the soil upon which the civilization can emerge.
Everything else exists because Solum exists.
A world waiting to awaken
Before the first Colonist arrives…
Before the first Farm appears…
Before history begins…
The world already exists.
It is silent.
Dormant.
Full of potential.
Solum represents that world before civilization.
It is not empty.
It is waiting.
Three possible states
Every part of Solum belongs to one of three possible states.
Dormant Land
Most of the world begins here.
Dormant land has not yet become part of the civilization.
It patiently awaits future Colonists.
Every new participant awakens another small part of the world.
In the smart contract this state is technically managed through the Pool.
Living Civilization
As Colonists participate, dormant land becomes living territory.
Farms emerge.
Cities grow.
States organize.
Kingdoms connect regions.
The civilization does not appear instantly.
It awakens gradually.
Permanent Nature
Not every place should become civilization.
Some forests should always remain forests.
Some rivers should always remain rivers.
Some mountains should never belong to anyone.
Permanent Nature protects the identity of the world.
Within the smart contract this permanence is technically implemented through the Burn mechanism.
In Zipvilization, Burn does not represent destruction.
It represents preservation.
Participation transforms the world
Colonists do not simply acquire territory.
They awaken dormant land.
Every new Colonist changes the state of the world.
The civilization grows because people choose to participate.
Not because new territory is created.
Nothing new is added.
The same world simply becomes more alive.
Public rules
This transformation is not controlled by people.
It is governed by public rules.
Every transition between Dormant Land, Living Civilization and Permanent Nature follows deterministic rules defined by the protocol.
Those rules are implemented by the smart contract and can be verified by anyone.
Discover how these rules work.
The Solum Token
The Solum Token allows the territorial layer of Zipvilization to exist on-chain.
It is not designed as a speculative asset.
Its purpose is to represent and interact with territory.
The token is a tool.
The civilization is the purpose.

Connected Concepts
Solum is one layer of a larger system.
It connects directly with:
- The World — where civilization emerges.
- Colonists — who awaken the land.
- Territories — the organization of living land.
- Zips — the population of the civilization.
- Time — the force that allows growth and maturity.
- The Contract — the public rules governing every transformation.
- SolumTools — observes the civilization.
- SolumWorld — defines the canonical world.
- SolumView — makes the civilization visible.
Every layer describes the same civilization from a different perspective.

Solum is not valuable because it can be owned.
It is valuable because a civilization can grow upon it.
